Everton record a third consecutive league draw this season at Cardiff City Stadium.
Once again Everton didn’t take their chances in a game where the stats were all too familiar. Mirallas missed a straightforward header from a Baines free-kick, and Jelavić had a stoppage time header saved well by David Marshall. The Blues had plenty of possession but didn’t do much else with it.
The talking point of this game however was referee Anthony Taylor’s shocking decision to not award Leighton Baines a first half spot-kick when he was brought down in the box by Gary Medel.
”It’s as clear a penalty you will ever see,” said Martínez. “The last thing I would do is come out and just blame the referee for not getting the three points, but it was a key moment.”
Cardiff City 0-0 Everton.
