There’s just something about West Ham away…

A first half goal from Ravel Morrison put the hosts ahead as we struggled to make any real impact before the break. Our play improved drastically after Naismith & Jelavic were substituted for Lukaku & McCarthy at half time.

Osman limped off not long into the second half and was replaced by Oviedo as Everton applied the pressure, with Mirallas coming the closest.

West ham were finding it difficult to contain us and Barkley was brought down by James Collins just outside the area. Baines curled the free kick into the far top corner to equalise. Superb.

With 15 minutes to go the Blues were left wondering if we’d get anything from the game at all when Kevin Nolan was fouled by James McCarthy in the box. Mark Noble scored the resulting penalty kick to send the Hammers ahead, but Everton continued to press…

Barkley was proving to be more than a handful as he was brought down once again outside the area with 10 minutes to go. Mark Noble was shown red for his second bookable offense. Baines stepped up to produce a freekick of even better quality, curling the ball into the opposite top corner to his first. 2-2, Déjà vu.

Then it was with 5 minutes to go that Lukaku started a move before making an excellent run to meet Mirallas’ cross with a sublime header. 3-2!!! LIMBS!!!

The Belgian powerhouse had no time to celebrate as he was knocked out cold following a clash of heads with Joey O’Brien when he headed the ball into the net. He did however see the remainding minutes of the game out after he woke up.

West Ham 2-3 Everton.

Goals: Morrison 31, Baines 62, Noble 76 (pen), Baines 83, Lukaku 85
